Literature Text

Push play
join me
we won't go far

don't think
the rhythm will dictate your heartbeat
your thoughts are a melody
each emotion: a pitch

Grab a speaker
Grab a brush
paint the color of sound
or at least try

Oil will fade
Sculpture will crumble
But sound creates a wave
    that flows forever

Music lives

When has a picture made you sing?
Listen
You're tone deaf
You scream the words anyway

When have colors made you dance?
Listen
Let your body bounce

Wet:
Feel the painting on your fingers
Human:
Feel the harmony on the string of your soul

Stop

Let the notes sink in while you change the CD
Take a cleansing breath
Rinse and repeat

I never had any intention of writing this, but my DA account has been running a little dry lately. Well, I wrote this while I was at a concert sitting next to William Bolcom, and his wife, Joan Morris (more commonly know as Bolcom and Morris). If you don't know who William Bolcom is, look him up. He is among the top five living composers in the entire world; the man has won the Pulitzer Prize. Anyway, this is what happened. I have no beef with art, I love it. There are just some things that only music can do for you.

If you have any ideas for a title, please send them my way.

For more exciting poetry, go to my gallery (thumbnails), and read the poems with colored lables; they are my personal favorites. Thanks again and enjoy!
