Lonely Little Thoughts

Description

I wanted to experiment, so I borrowed my dad's old Minolta srT201 that he got when he was in college. Any photographers, please comment! Any constructive, even fundamental, criticism is more than welcome. Please let me know what you think, or how I can improve.

I took this picture of April in the middle of Africa Road when we went for a walk on Saturday night. I wanted the street lights to look like her thoughts floating above her head in the night. Oh, when I had this roll developed I used the photomachine to bring out yellows and reds (I still worked at the photolab), and I really liked the sepia effect, so I took it a step futher by scratching the negative with the end of a paperclip to get that vintage effect.

Thanks for looking!

Lovely image.

Did you ever consider doing a lith print of this?

you use a fibre based paper like Kentona by Kentmere, and an exposure of about... 15/20 seconds would do it, depending on how much contrast you want. The longer you expose it the less contrast you get. Then ya lith developer would be just done until you like (though don't forget it develops faster and faster the longer you leave it there, and agitate continually.) when you fix, it fixes up so it ups the contrast a little...

Oh and wash times are double for fibre based prints.

It would be a black and white print, BUT lith prints take on a warm tone.

(ask me anything about B&W... but I don't have a clue about colour)
